1. 2+2=5 begins like it might be a miserable load of tosh, like the whiney bit in 'Paranoid Android', but then it goes bizarrely upbeat, like early Roxy Music have whooshed forward in time and discovered South Park. Thom even sings "Don't question my authority". We're hoping this is a statement of intent, but things are about to chill. Great start, but as it transpires, this is the standout track on initial listen.

2. Sit Down Stand Up: We're in whiney territory again, but that's something we're just going to have to get used to. Like a 'Kid A' outtake, until they suddenly bring in some tribal drumming. We've just started a fire in the office and now we're dancing around it. Adam will have to buy himself a new desk.

3. Sail To The Moon: This is one of their more wispy, piano tunes; soft with a bit of orchestration and a slightly off kilter time signature.

4. Backdrifts: The backing is provided by what's more than likely a backwards loop, and makes for a quite boingy, but ever so slightly witchy tune. Of course you know what we're talking about.

He said: oh well its not as if there arent worse things to worry about i mean do you remember that old 'home taping is killing music' thing in the 80s then record companies introduced cds and stopped making vinyl so they made a rod for their own backs there i really would like to know who leaked it though cos the fucking promos arent even out yet ha ha ha hail to the thief.

He commented the new album leak: Colin called and said it was up, so thought I'd check I feel bemused, though, not annoyed....I'm glad people like it, most of all. It's a *little* earlier than we'd expected, but there it is. There there it is ! hahahahaha (..) Surprised, and still not used to it happening, even after all these years..... I worry more that stuff we do *won't* get released for whatever obscure reason, and I hate the 3 month gap between finish and release. But not enough to leak it myself !

When asked if he was downloading his own music. Jonny said: It is isn't it ? mean, I *think* it's partly mine, but who knows ? I just wanted to check it was really us. Jonny couldn't say if they were the mastered tracks: Don't know yet - I've only downloaded I Will and it's hard to tell. I guess we'll find out today. Well it sounds OK on my iBook speakers...Haven't tried it on headphones... Are there any cross fades ?

When someone suggested it was Ed who leaked it, Jonny commented: that explains the shades, then. And the frequesnt 'Holidays'. Hmmmm.

Jonny said he wasn't angry about about the leak: Well, you know...... hence the title, really. Not sure where all that George Bush stuff came from.... Heard it, have we? (..) Well Hail is no insult, really...We just like the contradictory phrases like 2+2=5 and Hail to the Thief and all that. We're not angry really....shame it's not a package with the artwork and all, but there you go.

In other news, I heard the Radiohead album. Oh yes! And its not called ‘2+2=5’, as reported. It is, however, a very, very, very big record. I only heard it once and some tracks I only heard in part. Obviously from that it would be wrong to give a full review or even a vague one. However …

Oh it’s so good. I really liked what I heard. The first single is called ‘There There’ and comes in two versions - the really good full length one and the oneZane will be in his new job (ha ha, sorry Zane couldn’t resist) It’s amazing! As we zipped through the album the only thing I could really gleam as an overview is that all previous Radiohead albums or phases seem to be really well represented. From the recurring and developing melodies of ‘OK Computer’, to the spiky rock of ‘The Bends’, and of course the inspired electronic lunacy of the previous two albums. I think Nigel Harding, my music producer hit the nailon the head when saying, "It's like everything they've ever done, and yet nothing they've ever done before". That’s the best I / we can offer until we get a further listen. It's great though, you're gonna love it. Oh yeah Thom Yorke’s voice is really clean and dry with hardly any weird vocal effects and his voice sounds so strong. I can't wait to start playing the single (the full-length version).

Jonny said he's Happiest yet with the new album: I will being there is one of the reasons. I think we got down some beatiful songs. They're all quite short, but that's probably good, right ?

On the forthcoming b-sides, Jonny said: THe b-sides are all very good. *smug smile*, but it's nice to have good b-sides. Jonny also commented on the album title, Hail To The Thief: It's a line from the song 2+2=5, a good line, too.

Someone asked if Jonny plays the banjo. He said: It's on the Bodysong soundtrack. But I'm not *convinced* it's welcome with rh. I like 'em. They can sound sinister. You know Violent Femmes 'Country death song' ?

The phrase 'Hail To The Thief' was coined by protesters at the end of the 2000 US Presidential election, when controversy famously surrounded Bush's rise to office. The battle between Bush and Democrat candidate Al Gore came to a bitter end, with the result in the key state of Florida dogged by recounts, amid allegations of unfairness in the voting process.

On the day of his inauguration Bush was greeted in Washington by thousands of protesters with banners, some of who shouted, 'Hail to the thief, our commander in chief'.

The phrase has now become well used in anti-Bush circles. A website, www.hail-to-the-thief.org, that casts a cynical eye over US policy is active and goes under the banner 'Hail to the Thief! Love your country. Never trust its government.' A number of books and articles have also been written, perhaps most famously 'Mediaocracy 2000 - Hail to the Thief' by Danny Schechter, which looks at the role of the media in the election.

The acclaimed band has handed over the track so would-be directors can use it in their short films as part of an MTV initiative.

The channel has teamed up with charities Samaritans and Mind Out For Mental Health for the Need To Talk campaign.

Radiohead's Meeting In The Aisle has been donated for free by the band and was recorded during the sessions for OK Computer.

Drummer Phil Selway, who works as a Samaritan, said: When the biggest killer of young men in the UK is themselves, anything the band can do to draw attention to the issue of emotional health is worthwhile.

Young British film-makers are being asked to submit films or animations from 30 to 60 seconds interpreting or responding to the phrase need to talk.

Radiohead have said the tracklisting and title of their new album will be announced at 5pm on Monday.

It ends weeks of speculation about the follow up to 2001's Amnesiac. The band's PR told PS the new album has 14 songs. These include new single There There, out May 26, and 2+2=5 - which has been rumoured as the album title.

"Nobody has come close to guessing the album title," the PR added. "It doesn't refer to any specific song."

As we sat and listened all we could say after was "wow". Our impressions of the first songs we were heard were that these songs are simply amazing. The songs were very reminiscent of OK Computer but, of course, going to a higher level like only Radiohead could do.

There There will be the first single from the album being released on May 19, 2003 in Japan and May 26 in the UK. The Japanese single will contain 5 tracks while there will most likely be two CD singles for the UK. The title of the record still remains somewhat of a mystery with titles like 2+2=5 and Are You Listening being rumored as the favorites.

As previously revealed, the band will play a tour of small UK venues in May, which will precede their sixth album, released on June 9.

They have now confirmed a date at the Nîmes Arena in France on July 14. NME.COM understands a small tour of Italy will precede the show, although dates are currently unconfirmed.

In other news, a spokesperson for the band told NME.COM that 'There There' will be the first single from the band's new album, released in May.

A Japanese retail outlet is claiming the track will be released in the Far East on May 19, although May 26 is the confirmed release date in the UK.

A title and release date still remain officially unconfirmed by the band's British record label.

All you hipsters and music geeks can start wetting your pants now, cuz this is going to be one for the ages. According to the L.A. Times, critical darlings Radiohead and Sigur Ros will be meeting soon to collaborate on the score for a piece by the world renowned Merce Cunningham Dance Company.

The work is set to be premiered in New York at the Brooklyn Academy Of Music this October. No word has been released yet on what exactly the two bands will come up with, but seeing as how both artists often have a very theatrical feel to their music, it will be interesting to see what happens when they combine their talents. It would be a pretty safe bet that it’s not going to be an upbeat dance number, though.

The band's new album, recorded in Oxford and LA over the last year, will be released on June 9, preceded by a brand new single in mid-May.

In the coming weeks the band will start rehearsals for a tour which in addition to previously announced massive European festivals, will see Radiohead play 'club' dates in the UK.

Radiohead haven't been on a UK stage since their celebrated homecoming show in Oxford's South Park in July 2001.

A spokesperson for the band told NME.com: They will be playing a very special series of dates in the UK. The shows will be in what for them, will be very small venues.

Radiohead's Thom Yorke has said the rumoured album titles 2+2=5 and Are You Listening? are not correct.

The group have now completed work on their new album, which is due for release on June 9. To coincide with the release, the band will play a selection of festival dates across Europe.

Speaking on the band's' official website, Yorke said that the record never had those titles. A spokesperson for the band told NME.COM last week that a title and single are still to be confirmed.

Guitarist Jonny Greenwood has also been online with fans, where he revealed the band's live shows this year will be similar to those on last year's tour of Spain and Portugal.

I Will is recorded, may well be on the album. He acknowledged the DJ rumor - didn't verify its truth, but without being told all the details he mentioned deep house genre and described it a little (His exact message was: Like, bangin', u kno deep house, a bit souly with vokalz like, but groves n beats n that u kno detroit but souly u kno.

There will be a world tour, of course. They will be going everywhere is the exact quote, and they will be announcing it shortly. Australia and Eastern Europe, however, are out. The sets will be similar, but with better renditions of the LP6 songs we've already heard, and some more new songs.
