Thom Yorke on P3

Thom Yorke tells P3 that Radiohead went to school together in Oxford, went off to college “like good boys” and then formed the band they had wanted all along. They signed about a year and a half ago, have played around 200 gigs since, and Pablo Honey is doing well around the world, best in America. Ride broke through while he was DJing at college, and by the time Radiohead got back the shoegazing scene was fading. They were close to its opposite, he says, going for extremes of emotion and volume where the shoegazers layered white noise, and “we always really wanted to be a good live band”.
