30 July 1995 · BBC Radio 1 · Thom Yorke, Ed O'Brien

Thom Yorke and Ed O'Brien talk in the Radio 1 truck at an outdoor show with R.E.M. and the Cranberries, the day before they shoot the video for “Just”. Ten years earlier O'Brien saw R.E.M. support U2 on a soaking wet day, and remembers the whole wet crowd dancing to “Can't Get There From Here”. In Rome on 1 May they played “The Bends” and “High and Dry” to half a million people in a square, and millions more on Italian television. One of them walked off shaking, went straight to the bar and drank an entire bottle of wine before he could speak. Elvis Costello, on the same bill, “was more scared than me”.
