Radiohead on Rock Express
A band that took Radiohead on tour watched every Radiohead show, and a member who missed a night said sorry.
1996 · Rock Express · Radiohead
Rock Express cuts live footage with the band's talk in 1996. For the first time France feels as if it wants them, which surprises a band who once read what may be the worst album review in the world. America has to be toured relentlessly, as Bush and Hootie and the Blowfish have done, and a gold record arrived from there on Saturday. The British press have overlooked them, one of them says, and will go on doing so.
They had feared that a band taking them out on tour would be reluctant, and found people writing new songs and talking about music all the time, which gave them confidence. That band watched every Radiohead show, and any member who missed a night said sorry. They feel nearer to Bristol than London, because Tricky and Massive Attack came out of the woodwork with brilliant records and no hype. New songs are going into the American sets two or three a night, a few are already recorded, and the next album they will make themselves with the engineer who did “Lucky”.
