Carson Daly catches Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway in a corridor before a live MTV performance, and they say they deal with television by ignoring it. As far as they have been told, the programme is simply taping a Radiohead show, so they prepare as for any other night.
They are happy to talk set lists. Normally all five of them make the list after the soundcheck. For this they had to submit one three weeks in advance, which still faintly annoys them. A set changes from night to night and takes perhaps six shows to settle into something that works, and they keep every list, so a British tour after an American one can start from a completely different opening song.
By then they were playing very little from Pablo Honey, five years old and largely retired, though one song had recently come back, and almost everything from OK Computer.
Asked whether OK Computer is a concept album, they argue that any good album has a theme running through it, and are cheerfully rude about the 1970s records the term usually summons.
