Radiohead on MTV Superock

The cameras go behind the scenes at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on the first date of an American tour. An opening night is the nervous one, the band explain, because the technical problems all have to be ironed out in public and there is always some rust, though they had come more or less straight from a run of European festivals and hoped to get away with it.

Much of it is about the crew. Ed O'Brien points out that nine people had been in the building since eight in the morning while the band mosey in at half past three to soundcheck and eat, and says plainly that the band have the easiest job of anyone there. The camera is handed to the guitar technicians, who are presented as the ones with the real stories.

Outside, fans who had waited all day say the band came out, signed things, posed for photographs and seemed in a good mood.
