Thom Yorke on ITN Interview

What offends Thom Yorke is the way the culture handles anyone who becomes successful, turning them into a lifestyle display, a tour round the houses of the rich to show what everyone should aspire to and what success looks like. He calls it obscene.

Asked whether saying so has achieved anything, he answers flatly that it obviously has not worked yet.

He places himself in what he calls the culture of complaint, and the generational label that went with it, and sees the absurdity of forming these views while flying between hotels and seeing nothing.

He feels lucky to be allowed to speak his mind and write exactly what he likes, he says, because the overwhelming majority of people cannot, and in a great many countries doing just that gets people shot or tortured.
