Asked to describe Radiohead, Jonny Greenwood says they are sort of a rock band, a bit like Buddy Holly.

Hail to the Thief is the number one album in Ottawa, and a local radio show gets Jonny Greenwood on the phone. He gives them very little. Is it their best? Who can tell, not him. His desert island Radiohead record is Kid A, because there is loads to listen to in it, and making records is the most joyful thing you can do. Off tour he walks his dog Louie, about the size of a large mouse, who looks as if he has been kicked in the face. When the hosts insist the band are weird, he says they are well brought up young men who respect their elders. Asked to describe Radiohead, he puts it the way he would to someone of 70: sort of a rock band, a bit like Buddy Holly. Then he tells them they are the strangest people he has ever spoken to. Two words into their word association game he asks to play another game, and keeps going long enough to answer “delightful” to the Beatles.
