28 July 2003 · Launch · Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood talk to Launch about downloading. People pass music around online, one of them says, because the radio gives them no other way to hear it, and the industry blames the internet when “everyone knows damn well it's because they're not flogging things that people want to buy”. Records with two good songs and ten rubbish ones may be on the way out. When Radiohead started, a company paid to keep them on tour for their first two years, and without it they would never have left Oxford. New bands are left relying on radio play and videos, which horrifies them, and if the companies go under, “bye-bye, good riddance”.
