17 January 2008 · BBC Radio 1 · Thom Yorke, Ed O'Brien
Thom Yorke and Ed O'Brien drop in on Scott Mills on Radio 1, on the day they take over Zane Lowe's show for the last time, just as Mark Ronson's cover of “Just” has been played. They have a list of records to tick off, and expect to fight over it when time runs out. They agree the singing is good. “I was saying to Ed if I cop it tomorrow, there's hope,” Yorke says. If Shane Ward, the X Factor winner, wanted to do “Paranoid Android”, it would be up to him, though they wouldn't exactly put their endorsement on it.
Then comes a quiz, Radiohead or Some Other Head, the pair against Chappers, a big fan on Mills's team. Among the clips are Technohead's “I Wanna Be a Hippy”, Beavis and Butt-head, Motörhead and the Futureheads. They need a moment over “2 + 2 = 5” and name “Jigsaw Falling into Place”, the new single, straight away. At the end one of them admits not knowing who won, and wonders whether anyone cares.
