Thom Yorke on MTV
Normally, he says, sweatshop labour is something he only gets to talk about with people considered extreme left wing.
30 April 2008 · MTV · Thom Yorke
Thom Yorke talks to MTV about a film for MTV EXIT, the channel's campaign against exploitation and trafficking, set to “All I Need”, in which a boy in the West buys the trainers a boy in an Eastern sweatshop has made. He is glad to see sweatshop labour reach the mainstream, since normally it is something he only gets to talk about with people considered extreme left wing. He likes how flatly the director shot the film, close to what he pictures when he sees cheap trainers on the high street. A line in the second verse lands as the boy brushes glue on a sole, which he had never noticed. He is quite proud of that, though it had nothing to do with him.
