Ed O'Brien on BBC Radio 1
Reading is the festival down the road from home, and Radiohead turned it down the year before because they were in America.
27 August 2009 · BBC Radio 1 · Ed O'Brien
Ed O'Brien tells Radio 1, the week Radiohead headline Reading, that their mid-afternoon set on the main stage there in 1994 was atrocious and put them off it; in 1991 he had been there as a roadie for the Candyskins. Reading is the festival down the road from home, and they turned it down the year before only because they were in America. It is the first festival teenagers go to, and he calls it their highest-profile show since Glastonbury in 1997. They played Poznań on 25 August, their first Polish show in 15 years, and he admits that “when we say World Tour it means Europe and North America and a bit of Japan”.
