August 2009 · BBC · Phil Selway

Neil Finn and Phil Selway on BBC Breakfast, the morning after a gig at Dingwalls, to talk about The Sun Came Out, the 7 Worlds Collide double album made in three weeks in New Zealand for Oxfam. Finn asked everyone to bring a song or an idea, families came too, and between swimming and carousing they recorded 24 songs. Selway admits to a first-day worry that it wouldn't work, which went the moment they started playing. He wrote “The Ties That Bind Us”, one of his two songs on the album, alone. KT Tunstall came straight from her honeymoon, parked the camper van out the back and hauled Finn into a room to finish a song when he wanted to go to bed.

Asked about the rumour that Radiohead will not make another album, Selway says they are working on new material. Finn lets slip that Selway is back at his day job today, rehearsing with Radiohead for Reading and Leeds.
