Thom Yorke on COP15
The week In Rainbows went up was the most exciting of Thom Yorke's life, because nobody knew what would happen.
December 2009 · COP15 · Thom Yorke
On a live show the makers of the film The Age of Stupid put out from the Copenhagen climate summit (COP15), Thom Yorke explains In Rainbows. Radiohead let people pay what they thought it was worth and made more than from the last few records, because all of it came to them. It was a spectacular success, he says, “because it was like a big stink bomb to the industry”, which still doesn't like them much. Their six-album contract with EMI, a label dying on its feet, was up, and they wanted out in style. The week the album went up was the most exciting of his life, because nobody knew what would happen and they were relying on people's goodwill.
