Thom Yorke on Filter Magazine
Having finished a record with Atoms for Peace, Thom Yorke feels as if he is only now dipping his toes in.
2013 · Filter Magazine · Thom Yorke, Stanley Donwood
Thom Yorke, interviewed with Stanley Donwood for Filter, is still finding his way around Atoms for Peace, who work very fast. “I'm much more like throwing them things out of the computers and stuff and asking them to imitate them and then seeing where it goes,” he says, and it is not like that with Radiohead at all. It is odd, he says, to finish a record with Atoms for Peace and feel he is only now dipping his toes in. What he and Atoms for Peace have in common is an interest in replicating machine grooves. One of the two being interviewed, Yorke or Donwood, tends to work with friends, who watch out for each other in peculiar ways.
