Phil Selway on BBC 6 Music
The warm response to Weatherhouse, Philip Selway hopes, comes from the spirit of its 2013 sessions with Adem Ilhan and Quinta.
January 2015 · BBC 6 Music · Phil Selway
Philip Selway tells Shaun Keaveny's 6 Music show that Radiohead worked on new material through the autumn until just before Christmas, and “it was just good to be back in each other's orbits”. They reconvene around March. He hopes the warm response to Weatherhouse comes from the spirit of its 2013 sessions with Adem Ilhan and Quinta. On his own records, finding a singing voice for Familial took a year or so of trial and error before the arrangements were built round it, and Weatherhouse asked him to sing differently again. A voice is like any instrument, he says, “always a work in progress”.
