Phil Selway on Radio Eins
With Adem Ilhan and Quinta he has written a commission for Rambert, the London dance company, and sees plenty more for the three of them.

Philip Selway tells Radio Eins how Weatherhouse got its name. The artist who made the sleeve fixed on the weather house in “It Will End in Tears”, went to a junkyard for the pieces and built the sculpture on the cover. Selway now has its two little figures at home, cuddled up next to each other, which makes him the owner of half a weather house.
If reviewers hear Radiohead in it, he puts that down to the drums, which went down first this time; he didn't drum on Familial at all. That record, built round an acoustic guitar, had to be something else entirely while he made his name as a songwriter. “I think I got that out of my system on Familial,” he says. Playing it live, a joy in small rooms and hard work at festivals, changed the way he sang. He, Adem Ilhan and Quinta, from the Familial live band, shut themselves away for about six months at Radiohead's studio, near his home, and it felt like a bit of a holiday. The three of them have since written a commission for Rambert, the London dance company, and he sees plenty of musical mileage left in them.
