Phil Selway on Hostess
He made Weatherhouse in clear time away from Radiohead, with Adem Ilhan producing as well as playing.
February 2015 · Hostess · Phil Selway
Philip Selway, in Japan for the Hostess Club Weekender, explains how Weatherhouse came about with Quinta and Adem Ilhan. He has known Quinta since she played with Bat for Lashes when they opened for Radiohead, and Ilhan was a musician whose records he loved. Both joined his live band for Familial, and the second album grew out of that. With clear time away from Radiohead, and Ilhan producing as well as playing, it came together effortlessly, three people with similar tastes who knew early that “we were onto something”. On the road they are very funny, he says, and very good with crosswords.
