Phil Selway on BBC 6 Music

Phil Selway, on Mary Anne Hobbs's 6 Music show, says a member of Radiohead might be expected to spend winter “going on cold long-faced walks trying to look like I'm wrestling with some weighty problem”. Sport gets him through to spring, the Six Nations above all, now that he no longer has to be any good at it. If his team goes out of the FA Cup, he tells himself that at least they can concentrate on the league. Before Scotland played England at Murrayfield he settled into an Edinburgh bar with a whisky and found it full of English rugby greats, Bill Beaumont, Jason Leonard and Rob Andrew.
