Ed O'Brien on BBC Two
Scotland and Argentina have the liveliest crowds anywhere, he says, and the two are very similar.
7 July 2017 · BBC Two · Ed O'Brien
Ed O'Brien talks to Edith Bowman a couple of hours before Radiohead headline the first TRNSMT in Glasgow, at the end of five weeks on the road. Their first big headline show was T in the Park in 1996, while they were recording OK Computer, and it mattered “because we weren't doing that in England”. Bands always get asked where the best fans are, he says, and he names the liveliest instead: Scotland and Argentina, which are very similar. At the 1978 World Cup, with no England team to follow, he supported Scotland at the age of ten, and the first single he ever bought was “Ally's Tartan Army”.
