November 2017 · CBC · Phil Selway

Phil Selway tells CBC News, in a report on the stage collapse at Downsview Park in Toronto in 2012 that killed Radiohead's drum technician Scott Johnson, that the roof came down at four in the afternoon, when the band's soundcheck was due to start. “I actually should have been where Scott was,” he says, and he cannot let it lie. Johnson, 33, a drum technician who also worked for Keane and the Killers, had been with Radiohead for about two years. Selway is filmed with Johnson's father, Ken, in a churchyard in South Yorkshire. Five years on there are no convictions. Live Nation, Optex Staging and an engineer faced 13 charges under Ontario's workplace safety law; with three days of the trial left the judge was appointed to the federal court and declared a mistrial, and his successor stayed every charge for delay. CBC's anchor adds that Ontario will call an inquiry.
