Thom Yorke on BBC Radio 6

Thom Yorke explains why he does so few interviews. Interviewers come in too hard and too cerebral, and explaining and justifying his work becomes a thing in itself, like looking at himself in a mirror, which he does not much enjoy. The real danger, he says, is a feedback loop. Do enough of it and the analysis starts feeding back into the work, until he is explaining what he is doing while he is doing it, which he thinks unhealthy.

The host, Shaun Keaveny, refuses the reverent approach, at one point asking which reality show Yorke would choose at gunpoint, and gets a proper answer about having once been approached.

Keaveny also observes that people come to Yorke for the most vulnerable part of himself, while anyone wanting invincibility has other bands to go to, and asks whether he ever wishes he had that job instead. Yorke does not dismiss the question, and answers on the different weight each carries.
