29 April 2020 · CityNews · Ed O'Brien

A short CityNews report from Toronto on Earth, Ed O'Brien's first album, released under the name EOB while he got over what he believes was coronavirus. It starts outside the Great Hall, where a few months earlier people were trying to get tickets for his sold-out show. The record is his response to reconnecting with the planet and the people on it. Finding his own voice was the big challenge. Over the years he would tell Thom Yorke, no pressure, that a song is 80 per cent the vocal, because “the vocals is where the truth is”. The silver lining of the pandemic is people valuing a walk and the trees again, and he wants the frontline workers to know that they are the stars, not musicians, sports stars or billionaires. He tells the reporter he feels a lot better.
