Thom Yorke is reading Soil and Soul, Alastair McIntosh's book about Scottish communities' struggle against corporate power, and told the band's website it is “truly mental”. The Sunday Mail reports that he has asked to meet McIntosh, a Glasgow-based campaigner and fellow of the Centre for Human Ecology in Edinburgh.
McIntosh says he had never heard of Yorke until his son told him, and that when his son played him some Radiohead he could not make much of it, blaming hearing damage from years of shouting as an activist. He is delighted, and suggests the two could talk and, if the talk runs out, play together on his penny whistle.
