McG says Thom Yorke may still add sounds to Terminator Salvation
McG, the director of Terminator Salvation, told the film's panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday 7 February that Thom Yorke and Gustavo Santaolalla may yet contribute to it. We talked about Gustavo getting together with Thom Yorke from Radiohead which I thought would be very interesting. And they may still do a couple of sounds for the movie.
3 Danny Elfman is writing the score. The film is due in cinemas on Memorial Day weekend at the end of May.
McG first told the story in Los Angeles on 14 January, at a Warner Brothers preview of unfinished footage for journalists. His idea was to give the human resistance the delicate analog guitars of Santaolalla, played on instruments that sound as if they could survive a nuclear holocaust. The machines would have a mechanical sound of their own. I wanted Thom Yorke from Radiohead to do that. I thought that would be really interesting. We talked to their camps but the schedules were prohibitive.
