Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich give Rookie's readers advice on boys

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke and his Atoms for Peace bandmate Nigel Godrich have answered, on camera, questions sent in by readers around the world about crushes, shyness and boring boyfriends for Ask A Grown Man, the advice series run by Rookie, an online magazine for teenage girls.

Both went to boys' schools, which made girls impossible to meet, Yorke says, and he was very shy at that age. To a reader too shy to approach the boy she likes he says how about just write him a note? Or throw him against the wall some time.5

The pair give another reader their blessing to leave a boyfriend who has become boring. Of the jolt a crush gives, Yorke says Those little electrical impulses, they’re the best bit… They’re one of the nice things about being alive … so enjoy it.3
