Jonny Greenwood named Film Composer of the Year in Ghent
The World Soundtrack Academy named Jonny Greenwood Film Composer of the Year on Saturday 22 October, for his scores to Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog and Pablo Larraín's Spencer. The ceremony and concert at the Music Centre De Bijloke closed the 49th Film Fest Ghent.
He was first nominated at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2006, for “Magic Works”, his song for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. There Will Be Blood followed in 2008 and The Master in 2013, and in 2018 Phantom Thread had him up for Film Composer of the Year.
This year's two scores brought Greenwood nominations for an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe, and the organisers say that in Ghent he finally gets to take an award home.
