The Smile have played seven songs on stage that are not on A Light for Attracting Attention, and six of them were first heard on the European tour that followed the album's release in May. Ryan Reed lists them in Ultimate Classic Rock and thinks the band have a second album already, with the North American tour still to come.

“Bodies Laughing”, first played at the Tempodrom in Berlin on 20 May, shares its title, Reed writes, with a song Radiohead briefly rehearsed in 2006 and put on their studio blackboard of works in progress. In 2008 Ed O'Brien told a fan that one never came together, and that it was a Brazilian, bossa-nova sort of thing. Thom Yorke introduced The Smile's song in Berlin as written the day before, so it may be a new one under an old name.

The oldest of the seven is “Just Eyes and Mouth”. The band played it at their first performance, the Live at Worthy Farm stream on 22 May 2021, left it off the album, and have made it the usual encore, with Yorke at a Fender Rhodes. In Zagreb, on the first night of the tour, he introduced it as a song that didn't make the record but is really good.

The same night brought the song Reed calls “People on Balconies”, which reports from Zagreb named “Friend of a Friend”, with Yorke on bass and Jonny Greenwood on piano. On stage Yorke has introduced it with a memory of Italians in lockdown singing to each other from their balconies. So I decided to write a song nothing about that at all.1

“Colours Fly” opens with Yorke alone, building a drone out of echoed vocals, before he picks up the bass and plays it with his fingers. It was first heard at Primavera Sound in June, and when a clip of it reached Twitter on 10 July, Yorke answered with new one … work in progress … there are a few3.

The band played “Bending Hectic” for the first time at Montreux on 12 July, and Yorke told the crowd how new its words were. Yeah, I can see the words. That's good 'cause I just wrote them about a half-hour ago.1
