Bangers + Mash

In 2008 Radiohead gave a live recording of it to fans who told them how they were getting to the show.

2006

two drummers

It was first played in Copenhagen on 6 May 2006, the opening night of the tour that previewed most of In Rainbows, with Thom Yorke singing at a second drum kit beside Phil Selway's. It lurches from funk to punk to straight rock, and it is the most abrasive track on what became the second In Rainbows disc. Vulture traced it to Talking Heads' “Crosseyed and Painless”.

Yorke has called his lyrics from this period largely nonsense. Here it hardly matters, because the song is the riff and the two sets of drums, and by the last of the May nights in Britain, at the Hammersmith Apollo on 19 May, part of the crowd was already singing along to a song with no record behind it.

2007–08

the drum kit at the front

It went on the second disc of the In Rainbows box and back into the set in 2008. At Victoria Park in London a miniature kit waited for Yorke at the front of the stage.

Someone is now going to hit this drumkit, me

That summer everyone who had bought tickets through W.A.S.T.E., the band's shop and fan club, was asked how they planned to travel to the show. Answering got them a free mp3 of this song, recorded at Malahide Castle in Dublin on 6 June 2008, and the band meant to use the answers to plan greener tours.
