Song · On a Friday / pre-Pablo Honey (1986–92)
(The) New Generation
A track from 1990 that may be the looped dance piece that kept Chris Hufford from letting the band's tape go.
1990
track 15
It closes the tape the band made in 1990, when they were calling themselves Shindig, and like “Rattlesnake”, three songs before it, it leans on electronics. The 2003 site filed it simply as an early On a Friday demo.
Chris Hufford ran Courtyard Studio and went on to co-manage the band. In 1997 he told Mojo that the tape that reached him did not sound like any band in particular, and that he would have let it go if not for its 15th track, a strange looped dance piece. On the 1990 tape as fans have it now, the 15th track is this one.
