6 October 2011 · Domino Radio · Colin Greenwood

Colin Greenwood takes over Domino Radio for an afternoon, six weeks into a bout of man flu, playing records friends have recommended or put on mix CDs and tapes for him, with a line or two between them in the manner of a DJ Harvey session he admired. The disco section comes from compilations Q-Tip brought when he came round for tea one summer afternoon in Oxfordshire. Greenwood's five-year-old son, who had been watching 1970s breakdancing competitions on YouTube, went upstairs, came back down in a vest and leggings and spun on the floor.

Alex Ross of The New Yorker sent him to John Luther Adams's Four Thousand Holes, all acoustic treated pianos and glockenspiels, its title taken from a Beatles song, and his favourite thing three or four weeks ago. A Detroit compilation an acquaintance gave him in America seven years ago set him off on a long trip through that city's music. The band are putting out remixes, and Caribou's of “Little by Little” he calls a brilliant reimagining. “It's still a song, it's not just a remix.” He signs off with Four Tet's “Pockets”, the pick of Max, who has been holding his hand through the session.
