Colin Charles Greenwood, Jonny's older brother by two years, has played bass in this band since school. He read English at Peterhouse, Cambridge, where he ran the college gigs, then worked the counter at an Oxford Our Price while On a Friday found its feet; that record-shop job is part of how a demo reached EMI.
He taught himself, playing fingerstyle along to New Order and Joy Division records, and his bass lines come from there. They are melodic and unshowy, a steady line the rest of the band can move around.
Beyond Radiohead
He has photographed the band for years, and How to Disappear (2024) collects his pictures of Radiohead's middle years with a long essay by him. He toured with Nick Cave and Warren Ellis in 2022, plays on the Bad Seeds' Wild God (2024), and has played their shows in place of Martyn P. Casey since 2024.
