Colin Greenwood on BBC 6 Music
Richard Mabey and Oliver Rackham are among his favourite writers.
November 2015 · BBC 6 Music · Colin Greenwood
Colin Greenwood tells Elizabeth Alker about opening a conversation with Richard Skelton, whose new book for Little Toller reads the West Cumbrian hills through their dry stone walls, built to divide the land and now fallen, with nature coming through the gaps. He has always loved poetry and landscape, and his favourite writers include Richard Mabey and Oliver Rackham. Place matters to Radiohead too. Some of In Rainbows was recorded in a ruined old country house in Wiltshire, the band sleeping in caravans on the lawn behind it, and playing a Roman amphitheatre in the south of France is “an enormous privilege”.
