Radiohead's tour film is to be called Meeting People Is Easy

written up for the archive

Radiohead's documentary of the OK Computer tour is to be called Meeting People Is Easy, and it is now being edited. Grant Gee, who directed the “No Surprises” video, has followed the band round the world for the past year, and Ed O'Brien tells NME he has about eight hours of film to cut down. The band went to see some of the rushes recently. No release date is set, and the premiere is planned as a low-key one.

O'Brien also knocks down talk of a new album before the end of the year. The band have demoed songs in the back of the tour bus, but he thinks a record has to be made over a stretch of time set aside for it, and work begins properly in November.

Gee was given a free hand. O'Brien says the film is about how strange and unreal life on the road is, seen Gee's way. It's very honest, but it's not a rockumentary, that's the last thing we wanted it to be because that would be so Spinal Tap.1
