Bodysong, with music by Jonny Greenwood, to screen in Rotterdam

first posted on Treefingers by Miro · rewritten for the archive

Jonny Greenwood has written and produced the music for Bodysong, a feature film by Simon Pummell, which screens four times at the International Film Festival Rotterdam: at 10.15pm on Monday 27 January, at noon on the 28th, at 5pm on the 30th and at 2.45pm on Saturday 1 February. W.A.S.T.E., the band's mail-order shop and fan club, has passed the news to members.

Pummell wrote and directed the film and Janine Marmot produced it, for Hot Property Films with FilmFour and the Film Council.

The film tells the story of an archetypal human life in footage gathered from around the world and from the last hundred years of cinema: microscopic medical images, portraits and newsreels, births and deaths, all cut to Greenwood's score. Its makers describe it as a ride through the human body and the course of a life, drawing its force from the sheer number of people who pass across the screen.
