Radiohead's Com Lag is out in Britain, three years after Japan
Com Lag (2plus2isfive), the rarities EP Radiohead made for their 2004 tour of Japan, is out in Britain today on Parlophone. Capitol release it in America on 8 May.
It is the same enhanced disc Toshiba-EMI made in 2004, so the British edition still says on its front, in English, “This compilation is for Japan”. The credits do now spell Four Tet correctly, where the 2004 sleeve had “ForTet”.
The one track from none of the singles opens the disc, “2 + 2 = 5” live at Earls Court in London on 26 November 2003. The other nine are B-sides from the three Hail to the Thief singles, “There There”, “Go to Sleep” and “2 + 2 = 5”. The enhanced part carries a film of “2 + 2 = 5” at the Eurockéennes festival in Belfort in July 2003.
There was no announcement from the band, still at work on the follow-up to Hail to the Thief. Drowned In Sound found out from Amazon on the day. The Japanese original came out on 24 March 2004. In May 2004 enough British fans bought the import to put it in the UK albums chart at number 37.
