Jonny Greenwood plays on Dudu Tassa's new single “Eize Yom”

written up for the archive

Jonny Greenwood plays on “Eize Yom” (“What a Day”), the new single by the Israeli singer Dudu Tassa. It had its premiere on Ynet, the Israeli news site, on Wednesday 14 January. It is the first single from Tassa's next album, Besof Mitargelim Lehakol (roughly “In the end you get used to everything”). It gave the song a kind of depth that wasn't there before.2

Tassa grew up in Tel Aviv's Hatikvah neighbourhood, the Israelity blog says, and his songs move between rock'n'roll and Mizrahi music, with some reggae. He wrote the words of “Eize Yom” with Tali Katz and produced the album with Nir Maimon.

Greenwood is married to an Israeli and often visits the country with her and their children. Over the past few years Tassa has become a friend of the whole family. Ynet first reported the two were working together about six months ago. Jonny likes what I do, and that's very flattering.2
