Thom Yorke and Robert Del Naja score a documentary on tax avoidance

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke and Robert Del Naja, Massive Attack's 3D, have written the score for The UK Gold, a feature-length documentary on the history of tax avoidance, the Daily Telegraph reports. Mark Donne directs, and Dominic West, McNulty in The Wire, narrates.

The film follows the vicar of a small parish in Hackney as he takes on an ancient British institution, one the Telegraph calls the tax-haven capital of the world. Donne says To have this journey unfurling at the exact time that the eyes of the world were on this country, during the Jubilee and the Olympics, gives the story a powerful twist1

It premieres at the Troxy in east London on Tuesday 25 June, a venue chosen because it sits halfway between the City of London and Canary Wharf. A secret act is to play straight after the screening, and Rolling Stone wonders whether it could be Yorke, whose tour with Atoms for Peace does not start until July.
