Jonny Greenwood to score Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice

Jonny Greenwood is writing the score for Inherent Vice, Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, Film Music Reporter reports. It is his third Anderson film in a row, after There Will Be Blood in 2007 and The Master in 2012.

Anderson has adapted Thomas Pynchon's 2009 novel, which follows Larry “Doc” Sportello, a drug-fuelled private detective, through Los Angeles in 1970. Joaquin Phoenix plays him. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film in the US, and it is expected at one of the big film festivals later this year.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is recording the score in London this month.
