Greenwood has played music from the score in concert before, but never along with the picture. It was his first score for Paul Thomas Anderson, in 2007, and it was nominated for a Grammy after the Academy had ruled it ineligible for the Oscar. The two have since made The Master, and Greenwood is now working on a third Anderson film, Inherent Vice.
London comes first, with two nights at the Roundhouse in August in its Summer Sessions series. The London Contemporary Orchestra, more than 50 players, plays under Hugh Brunt, and Nonesuch bills the nights as the world premiere. Today Nonesuch added the US premiere: two nights at the United Palace Theatre in New York in September, where the Wordless Music Orchestra plays under Ryan McAdams.
