Paul Thomas Anderson said to be shooting a Radiohead video
Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, an American author and stand-up comic, says a Radiohead video has been shot partly in her house in Los Angeles, by a director introduced to her only as Paul. She told the story on an episode of her podcast, For Crying Out Loud, which has since been deleted. The band have confirmed none of it, and Vulture treats it as unproven. Radiohead have announced their first shows since 2012, including three nights at the Roundhouse in London in May, and a ninth album is expected later this year.
A crew member with a clipboard knocked on her door to say a music video would be shot in the neighbourhood, an ordinary suburban street that often gets used for shoots, and offered her $200 to let them film in her home. Only then was she told the band was Radiohead. She knew one of their songs, “Creep”, and did not care for it. She says she signed a non-disclosure agreement, which she guessed was why she could say no more about the video itself.
The next day the crew brought the director round. She thought she knew his face. Hey, you look kind of familiar. Have we met? Do you make anything apart from music videos?
2 she asked him, and he told her he had directed There Will Be Blood. That would make him Paul Thomas Anderson. Jonny Greenwood has scored three of his films, There Will Be Blood, The Master and Inherent Vice, and last year Anderson made Junun, the film of Greenwood's recording sessions in India.
