Thom Yorke's handwritten “Airbag” goes to auction for Oxfam
Thom Yorke's handwritten words to “Airbag” are to be auctioned for Oxfam, written inside the cover of a copy of William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience. The book reached the charity through an Oxfam shop in Oxford, not far from where Yorke lives. Dreweatts and Bloomsbury Auctions have the sale on 18 March and expect the book to make $1,200 to $1,600.
The lyrics are not the only writing in the book. A spokeswoman for the auctioneers told Dork that Yorke underlined and annotated Blake's poems all the way through, correcting and revising as he went, and that “Nurse's Song”, “A Cradle Song” and “The Divine Image” are among the most heavily marked.
