Thom Yorke's “Daily Battles” makes the Oscars shortlist
Thom Yorke's “Daily Battles”, his song for Edward Norton's Motherless Brooklyn, is on the shortlist for best original song at the 92nd Academy Awards, published by the Academy on 16 December. Flea plays on the recording.
Members of the Academy's Music Branch picked the shortlist from 75 eligible songs, and they vote on the nominees from 2 to 7 January. The nominations are announced on 13 January, and the ceremony is at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 9 February. Motherless Brooklyn is on the score shortlist as well, for a score that is not Yorke's.
It is the second year running that a Yorke film song has got this far. “Suspirium”, from his Suspiria score, was on last year's shortlist and was not nominated.
