Thom Yorke plays “Daily Battles” at the piano for Colbert
Thom Yorke played “Daily Battles”, the song Edward Norton asked him to write for Motherless Brooklyn, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday 14 November. He sat alone at a piano on the stage of the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, the song cut back further than the recording, where Flea plays bass and trumpet around him.
The film, which Norton wrote, directed and stars in, opened in American cinemas on 1 November.
Yorke first played it live a fortnight before Colbert, to close his Greek Theatre show in Los Angeles on 29 October. Norton has said he cried the first time he heard an early version of the song.
