Scammers offer promoters a fake Radiohead tour of North America

written up for the archive

Someone posing as Charlie Myatt, the agent who founded 13 Artists, has been emailing concert promoters with offers of Radiohead dates in North America next year, the live-music trade paper IQ warned in a scam alert on 4 November.

The emails are headed “RADIOHEAD - World Tour - North America 2023”. They announce the tour, give its dates as 15 July to 30 November 2023, and say that so many shows are already booked that only a few gaps are left.

They appear to come from Myatt's real address, but ask promoters to send their replies to a second address, which is not his. 13 Artists told IQ it learned of the scam on 2 November, when Myatt began to receive bounced copies, and several promoters who had been sent the offer got in touch with the agency. The same trick was played on 13 Artists in 2019, when a promoter paid money for what it took to be a real booking.
