The Smile release “Thin Thing” with a stop-motion film

written up for the archive

The Smile have released “Thin Thing” with a stop-motion film by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, who spent six months making it. The idea came to them, they say in a joint statement, the first time they heard the song.

Hearing the song for the first time, we imagined a frenetic fluid that carries machines, pieces of human bodies and carnivorous plants.

“Thin Thing” is the sixth song out from A Light For Attracting Attention, and The Fader calls it the last before the album, which arrives digitally on 13 May and in shops on 17 June.

When the directors took their idea to the band, Thom Yorke told them about a dream that had made him write the song. We believe the video is the conjunction of these two things.1
