Jonny Greenwood is selling olive oil from his Italian farm

written up for the archive

Jonny Greenwood has gone into olive oil. For the first time, the farm in Le Marche, Italy, where he has lived for eight years, has made enough oil to share. Greenwood Oil, an extra virgin oil, went on sale on 14 April through W.A.S.T.E., the band's mail-order shop, the day after he announced his album with Dudu Tassa. Every bottle is signed, a litre costs £60, and Stanley Donwood designed the label.

Announcing it on Twitter, Greenwood said he was proud of how it had turned out, for all that this is the kind of sideline older rock stars tend to end up in. He added It's Sting we're all thinking of.1

Family and friends pick the olives each year, and they are pressed close to the farm. Greenwood calls the picking and pressing addictive, and says he spends more and more of his time with the friends he has made in Italy. He signed off in the local dialect with a promise that nothing better is to be found, and an invitation to eat.
