Jonny Greenwood writes the strings for a Pretenders single

Chrissie Hynde saw Jonny Greenwood at the premiere of Phantom Thread, where the film ran on screen with a live orchestra playing. They spoke afterwards, and he told her he would like to do something together one day, which thrilled and surprised her, and later he came to see one of her Valve Bone Woe shows in the basement of a Pizza Express. When “I Think About You Daily” needed strings, she says, he was the first choice.

The song is out now as the Pretenders' new single, with Greenwood's string arrangement, which Louder reports he also conducted. It is the last track on Relentless, out on Rhino on 15 September, and follows “Let The Sun Come In” as its second single. Greenwood calls Hynde one of the greatest singers in popular music.

It was a genuine honour to score strings for Chrissie. The arrangement wrote itself because of that voice.
