The Bends is dedicated, near the foot of the booklet's back page, to Bill Hicks.
The comedian died on 26 February 1994, the month the band began recording the album at RAK in St John's Wood. Near the foot of the back page the credits read “dedicated to the late bill hicks”, under a huge dotted “0%” that turns up on panel after panel of the booklet.
