Ed O'Brien's 1999 studio diary caught a song being renamed after the Eagles' singing drummer.

On 22 July the band tried three-part harmonies on a song they called “neil young *9”, and Phil Selway cracked up because he felt a bit like Don Henley, who drums and sings for the Eagles. By the next day Colin Greenwood was calling it the “phil is don henley” song.
